Billy Idle is a veteran UK DJ, producer, and promoter whose career spans decades, tracing the heartbeat of underground electronic music. From Manchester’s club scene to London’s independent circuits and international gigs, Idle is known for sets that blend deep house, disco classics, and global grooves, delivered with energy, warmth, and an unrelenting love for the dancefloor.

Early Career: Manchester and London
Idle cut his teeth in the North West’s club scene, including appearances at Manchester’s Hacienda, where the city’s legendary nightlife shaped his early sound. By the late 1990s, he had moved to London and formed the production duo NiCe N iDLe with author and activist Howard Marks (Mr Nice). The pair collaborated on national and international tours, performing at after-parties and special events.

NiCe N iDLe is credited on Marks’ 2000 album Howard Marks Live & Unplugged, where they worked with P.A.I.N. and JuttaJaw to fuse beats and spoken-word pieces — a verifiable highlight of Idle’s early production career.

Thailand and Underground London Nights
In the early 2000s, Idle performed internationally in Thailand, holding residencies and guest sets in Pattaya, Koh Samui, and Koh Phangan. This experience brought tropical and Balearic influences into his sound. Back in London, he launched underground nights like iDyLLiC ViBeS and BooTySHAKe, which became known for soulful house, timeless anthems, and vibrant, community-driven gatherings.

Residencies, Tours, and Radio (2010–Present)
From 2010 to 2017, Idle held a residency with West London collective The Rotten Hill Gang, performing at UK festivals. He also appeared at Vapefest in 2015 and 2016.

He has held a long-running residency at The Vault beneath Putney Pies, a venue celebrated for soulful house and classic grooves.

He has hosted iDyLLiC ViBeS on MGR The Music Galaxy Radio since 2015, broadcasting from London with full shows archived on Mixcloud.

Internationally, Idle has performed in Ibiza at venues including Paradise Lost and The Boutique Hostel Salinas, while continuing to play London favourites like The Troubadour and The Masons Arms, keeping his underground sound alive for local and global audiences.
