Biography

Tommy Kennedy IV is an acclaimed author, music promoter, and creative visionary whose life story is a powerful testament to resilience, passion, and the transformative power of art. Born in Warrington, Northwest England, Tommy’s early years were shaped by a challenging childhood marked by institutionalisation. Yet, his unyielding desire to explore the world led him from his hometown to the vibrant streets of London, igniting a lifelong journey of adventure and self-discovery.

For 12 years, Tommy toiled as a bricklayer, his hands shaping the British Library, a monumental project that unfolded over three decades. Little did he dream that one day, within those walls, three books bearing his name would stand proudly on the shelves. In a twist of fate that rivals the most gripping fiction, Tommy’s journey from laying bricks to crafting stories proves that truth can be stranger—and more inspiring—than any tale.

A passionate entrepreneur, Tommy immersed himself in the music industry, running a bar in Thailand and organising electrifying parties and raves. Returning to London’s iconic Notting Hill, he founded a music promotions company and managed and promoted bands for over two decades. Tommy's determination never wavered despite significant setbacks, including bankruptcy and homelessness. His love for music became a cornerstone of his resilience, inspiring him to rebuild his life and career.
As a prolific writer, Tommy has authored ten books, drawing on his extraordinary life experiences to craft vivid, evocative narratives. His latest work, a biography exploring the life of fashion designer Ossie Clark, highlights his meticulous research and creative storytelling.

His upcoming novel, The Devil Went Down to Doah, the second instalment in the El Peculiar series, further demonstrates his dedication to his craft. His acclaimed autobiography, Nightmare in Jamaica (second edition released January 3, 2022), offers readers an unflinching look into his tumultuous journey, including his incarceration in Thailand and Jamaica, where he faced unimaginable challenges. During his time in Jamaica’s General Penitentiary, Tommy found solace in music, joining the prison band Bloom of Light and performing alongside notable figures from the reggae world.

Tommy’s life has been a whirlwind of global travels, cultural immersion, and personal reinvention. From the Northern Soul scene at Wigan Casino to the punk and rave movements, he navigated a hedonistic lifestyle that ultimately led to a profound transformation. His encounters with figures like Howard Marks and a German spiritualist shaped his path, helping him confront and overcome the shadows of his past. In the 2000s, Tommy found redemption through music and community on London’s Portobello Road, where he rebuilt his life with purpose and creativity.

At Birkbeck University, Tommy has been pursuing a four-year degree in creative writing since 2022. He participates in advanced writing courses at the Chelsea Theatre, and his commitment to honing his craft is evident in his work. His writing has earned praise from notable figures, including best-selling author Mandasue Heller, who calls Nightmare in Jamaica “a gripping journey into a nether world of violence and mayhem,” and NME journalist Chris Salewicz, who describes it as “a life lived on the dub side of life.”
His devotion to his children, Sophie and Tommy Jr., anchors Tommy's personal life, inspiring and grounding him. His work reflects his adventurous spirit, entrepreneurial mindset, and unwavering commitment to creative expression. Through his writing and music, Tommy Kennedy IV invites readers to explore a world of raw honesty, resilience, and triumph over adversity. This inspiring narrative resonates with dreamers and creators alike.

eBooks Made Easy: A Simple Guide for Older Readers

If you're used to reading paper books, the idea of an eBook might sound a bit technical or confusing. But it’s straightforward – and once you try it, you may wonder how you ever managed without it.

This guide is just for you. There is no jargon, no pressure, just an easy way to enjoy reading in a new way.

What Is an eBook?
An eBook is just a book you read on a screen instead of paper. That’s all. It still has pages, chapters, and covers – just like the books you know and love.

But instead of holding a heavy book or hunting for your reading glasses, you can make the words bigger, brighter, and easier to read with a tap.

Why Try an eBook?
No heavy lifting
You can carry hundreds of books on one light device—like your phone, tablet, or a special eReader (such as a Kindle)—which is perfect if you find books heavy or awkward.

Read comfortably
You can make the text larger or brighter with one finger. You won't have to squint or struggle to see the page.

Read in bed without a lamp
The screen lights up gently, so you don’t need a reading light. This makes it ideal for reading at night without disturbing anyone.

No trips to the shops or library
You can download a book straight from your chair. Many eBooks are free; some libraries even let you borrow eBooks from home.

Pick up where you left off
Your device remembers your page, so you never lose your place.

How to Read an eBook – Step by Step
Step 1: Use something you already have
You don’t need to buy anything new. Most people already have a smartphone, tablet (like an iPad), or computer. These work perfectly for eBooks.

Step 2: Download a free app
Look for one of these free reading apps:

Kindle

Apple Books (on iPhones or iPads)

Google Play Books

Kobo Books

Step 3: Find a book
You can:

Buy one online (many cost less than a cup of tea)

Borrow one for free from your local library’s website

Download a free classic (like Pride and Prejudice or Treasure Island)

Step 4: Tap and read
Once you’ve opened the book, tap or swipe to turn the page. That’s it.

Need a Hand?
If you’re unsure how to get started, asking for help is fine. A friend, family member, or someone at your local library can show you how in just a few minutes. After that, you’ll be able to do it yourself.

Final Thought
You don’t have to give up your paper books. Just try one eBook. Read a chapter. See what it’s like.

You might be surprised how easy it is – and how much you enjoy it.

Reading is one of life’s greatest pleasures. eBooks make it easier, more comfortable, and always close to hand.

Crime. Drugs. Broken People. No Way Out.

Welcome! Every Friday, a new short story under 1,000 words—raw, honest, and unfiltered.

If you’ve read Nightmare in Jamaica or Notting Hill Ponces, you know the score: no heroes, no redemption—just dark truth in fiction.

One story every Friday. Fifty-two weeks a year. Always free.

The first story is live now. Sharp, dark, and not for the faint-hearted.

Visit the Blog to start reading.

If you like it, share it.

Cheers and much appreciated!
